Our Design Process
What you can expect when you work with Craftsman Cabinets.
As many of our clients have concepts and plans from their preferred designer before getting in touch with our team, the below process will not apply to everyone.
If you do have plans and would like us to quote these for you, please send through all relevant information to info@craftsmancabinets.co.nz
Step 1 – TALK
Get in touch to arrange a complimentary thirty minute consultation in our showroom with our designer, Aimee. We ask that you bring along any architectural plans or design drawings you may have so we can gain a clear understanding of your project from the outset.
This initial meeting also allows you to experience the quality of our cabinetry firsthand within our showroom space and ensures we’re the right partner to bring your vision to life.
Step 2 – MEET
During your consultation, we will explore your ideas in detail and gather all relevant information including key features, functionality, aesthetics, budget, and timeframes.
This information becomes the design brief on which we craft and develop your bespoke cabinetry design.
Step 3 – DESIGN PROPOSAL
Following your consultation, we develop your brief in detail and prepare an initial design proposal and project estimate for review. This stage translates your ideas into a considered direction for your bespoke cabinetry.
As part of this process, we prepare a 3D concept presentation to help communicate the overall design intent, spatial flow, materiality, and detailing of the proposed space.
We then meet with you to formally present the design proposal, walk through the concept together, discuss materials and finishes, and refine any key details prior to final development.
Our approach is highly collaborative. While we strive to resolve the design early, refinement is often part of the process to ensure the final outcome is both precise and resolved in every detail.
Step 4 – QUOTE
Once the design has been finalised, we will issue an updated, detailed quotation reflecting any refinements made throughout the process, along with our terms of trade.
Upon acceptance of the quote, an invoice for a 50% deposit will be issued. This secures your project within our schedule and enables us to proceed with ordering materials for the manufacture of your bespoke cabinetry.
Step 5 – SITE MEASURE & MANUFACTURE
Upon receipt of your deposit, we undertake detailed site measurements at key stages of your project, including a final measure once your space reaches the appropriate stage of completion. This ensures absolute accuracy and a seamless fit on installation.
A clear project timeline is then confirmed. Where required, we will also coordinate with other trades to ensure all elements of the build are aligned and ready for installation.
Step 6 – INSTALLATION
Once manufacture is completed, we will be in touch with you and any relevant trades to confirm your installation date along with the offer of a factory visit to view your completed space.
Following confirmation of installation, a progress invoice of 30% will be issued.
Installation is carried out with a high level of care and attention to detail and may take place over several days depending on the scale and complexity of the project. In some cases, additional site visits may be required to ensure every element is completed to our standard.
Step 7 – FINAL SIGN OFF
Jason personally oversees the installation and/or delivery of all items and takes great pride in ensuring his customers are delighted with the finished product.
Once installation is complete and final sign-off is confirmed, the remaining 20% balance becomes due.
FOLLOW UP SERVICE
